What is the Refraction Calculator?
The Refraction Calculator helps determine the angle at which light bends when passing from one medium to another, based on the refractive indices of the two media and the incident angle. By entering the refractive index of the first medium, the incident angle, and the refractive index of the second medium, the calculator computes the refracted angle according to Snell’s Law or indicates if total internal reflection occurs. This tool is valuable for students, physics enthusiasts, and optics engineers studying light behavior.
How to Use:
- Enter Refractive Index of Medium 1 (n₁): Input the refractive index of the first medium.
- Enter Incident Angle (θ₁): Input the angle at which light strikes the interface in degrees (0°–90°).
- Enter Refractive Index of Medium 2 (n₂): Input the refractive index of the second medium.
- Click “Calculate”: The calculator determines the refracted angle in the second medium.
- Review the Result: The result shows the refracted angle or notifies if total internal reflection occurs.
