What is the Current Calculator?
The Current Calculator allows you to determine the electric current (in amperes) in a circuit using voltage, resistance, and optionally power. Depending on the available values, it can calculate current using Ohm’s law (I=V/RI = V / RI=V/R) or power-based formulas (I=P/VI = P / VI=P/V or I=P/RI = \sqrt{P / R}I=P/R). This tool helps students, engineers, and hobbyists quickly find the current flowing in a circuit without manual calculations.
How to Use:
- Enter Voltage (V): Input the voltage applied to the circuit in volts.
- Enter Resistance (R): Input the resistance of the circuit in ohms.
- Enter Power (P, optional): Input the power in watts if available.
- Click “Calculate”: The calculator determines the current in amperes using the appropriate formula.
- Review the Result: Use this value to analyze circuit behavior, verify designs, or plan electrical loads.
